I hate that time of the month when I feel miserable and the meanie that I am take it out on anybody near me. It is awful to have the world’s worst headache. The kind that lingers and does not go away until it is ready. The pounding pain, the watery eyes, the annoying sensation. I made the husband understand that once a month I am like this. There are months that I am fine though but there are worse months too. And today is one of them. I woke up with a headache after crashing last night. He knew what was going on and so he tried to help by leaving me alone and trying to divert the little man’s attention by entertaining him. I heard them talking about broken arms and vegetable gardens and toys earlier. I did get up and attend to the little man’s needs like food and diaper change since it is something I have to do. Other than that I was in bed being miserable. The husband said I need to walk or do some exercise, be active so this will not happen often. I might have to although I don’t know how with him and the little man dragging me. We have to work out a plan. For now let me just vent it here and hope that next month the headache will be nonexistent.

cheapskate
A friend told me that her husband bought a new flat screen television and she does not know what to do with their old television set. I told her I have been looking for one for the little man to play his educational videos in but I could not find anything cheap where we are at. Yes, I am a cheapskate, lol. I told her I am not paying a hundred dollars on a second hand television set. She was so nice to offer that if she knows how she would send the tv to us but I don’t think that was feasible. It might be costly so I am back to looking for good deals on and offline. The husband thought about buying a smaller flat screen tv for his son but on a condition that we have to mount it. Tough! Now I have to look for plasma mounts on top of searching for a cheap flat screen television. Somehow I am thinking it wold be cheaper to just go ahead and ask the friend to send her old television to us. What do you think?
words and more words
Sometimes I wonder where the little man picked up some words. He is into naming things at the moment. It gives him some kind of satisfaction to let us know that he knows things. We teach him several words and what they mean but sometimes he makes them all up. Or he mixes and match. These are a few words that I try to correct.
baby – baby chihuahua (I have explained the difference between a baby and a small dog but he only grins at me and still uses the word. When we are in public and sees babies though he does say the right word.)
cow – cowboy (This he says just to aggravate me because I have heard him saying cow complete with sound effects while he was showing his plastic toy to his father.)
tomato – tomano
umbrella – umbrebba
McDonalds – NickDonalds
rain – rainforest (huh?)
underwear (I regret telling him what to call his briefs. Now every thread he sees in the carpet or hanging from his shirt is underwear. I still don’t get the connection but who knows how a two-year old mind works.)
It is a learning process being with the little man. There are more words he comes up with but I may need another cup of coffee before I can come up with most of it because I can’t seem to remember. Or maybe it has something to do with him wiggling his way into my lap. It is hard to talk about somebody when they are listening er watching. Although he can’t read yet I still feel a little guilty, lol.
drumstick!

This pair he found from his brother’s chest of drawers. We do not know who it belongs to. The husband’s guess is that it was from his son’s friend who is in a band. I thought at first it might be a billiards cue which I know the stepson owns. The little man insisted these are drumsticks though which he is right. I just wanted to aggravate him, lol. He uses these to beat on his poor plastic drum which is not designed for such a beating. The first day he got hold of the pair he beat everything that makes a sound including my legs. I told him if he does not want to hear a popping sound he better quit
He is such a nut. Our goal for this Christmas is to look for a real drum so he can use the drumstick without hurting me or the husband. That is if he will not get tired and stick it somewhere we can’t find.
temporary ride
When our car’s transmission quit on us, we did not have anything else to drive. Our second car which is a Jeep was loaned to the stepson’s wife because she did not have a ride. We ended up bearing the brunt of the problem. Talk about being stuck at home. I told the husband he has to get the Jeep so we will have something to drive but he won’t do it. I resigned myself to the fact of being coped up at home for a week at least until his friend can fix the transmission. Then he remembered his friend who lives in the same neighborhood as us and asked if he could help us which he did. He loaned us his Ford truck. It was nice but when I went grocery shopping there was no room to put the bags of groceries but in the back. It was awkward but I did not have a choice. We were actually lucky that he helped us and we are grateful still. The husband and I agreed that it is actually a nice ride if not for the issue of space. I am used to the SUV you see. He said my problems could be easily remedied by getting truck accessories and buying a truck bed cover so when I put groceries in the back it will still be safe. We talked about offering to buy the truck from the friend but just when we got frustrated with the rate the SUV was progressing, it got fixed. We picked it up from the shop where it was at for days and drove it home. The plan on buying the truck from the friend did not materialize since the SUV is running good. Hopefully it will stay that way until we can afford another car. We already have the Jeep but we are not using it. The SUV has been perfect since the transmission got rebuilt.
teething
No, not the little man. I am. Da*n wisdom teeth are coming out and it is bothering me. One has been trying for years and still have a long ways to go. The other has just started. I am seriously thinking about buying a teether. I will have to get the husband’s approval though before he thinks I am crazy, lol. Now I know why the little man gets cranky when he is cutting teeth, the pain is not sharp but it lingers and I have the urge to gnaw on something all the time. I hope my gum will not get swollen or I will be in trouble.
i love to eat :)
Whenever I have the time I cook. Believe me it is not an easy feat when you have an overactive toddler in the house whose pastime is to make his mother pick him up and dance around like a goof. But he does leave me alone from time to time and this is when I cook my food. Notice I said my? Because the husband and the little man do not like my food. They have the same likes and I have mine. I prefer Filipino food while these two are into the local favorites. Anyway, I cooked a big pot of vegetables and shrimp earlier and it was so good I had second serving. I could not resist it. The husband said to be careful or I will be reading about diet pill review in the future if I keep on eating too much. I told him I don’t think I will since I already tried one brand and should I resort to diet pills again I will buy the same. At least I know it works. I don’t think I have to worry about that yet though because it was just vegetables and I boiled it so I guess I am safe for now. In fact after about two hours I was already hungry and if not for self control I might have eat all the leftover.
thomas the train set
We went to Kmart the other day to buy the little man’s latest fixation which is trains. We seldom buy him toys, he always plays with whatever is available at home which makes it more fun for him because he improvises. Anyway, we decided it is time to buy him new toys and off we went. When we get to the toy section he exclaimed toys! I felt guilty. When I saw my son’s reaction to the isles of toys I thought maybe we should have bought him more but the practical side of me thought this is why we don’t buy him toys regularly so he will appreciate it when one is given to him. We could not find the Fisher Price train set we came to get him for so we opted for Thomas the Train sets. The latter is better because it is cheaper
His father bought him a set of the former when he was a year old but some parts went missing and it got to where he leaves the parts anywhere that I decided to throw it way. Both were not happy with what I did but hey it was done. No sense on dwelling on it, right? The new set is way better anyway. He turns the train on and let it run on the track provided but most times he lets it loose in the carpet or on the kitchen floor while he crawls after it. They sure make a pretty picture, the train and our little boy. He loves it too. He even brings the train when we go out and when he gets ready for bed. We plan on buying additions so there will be more for him to play with.
