frustrations

The little man does not know how to handle frustrations well yet. Whenever something does not suit him he starts whining, jumping up and down, and then screaming. He does not hurt anybody or take it out on me at all. Nor does he hurt himself. He just lets it all out doing the above mentioned things and then gets on with what he was doing again. If in case things does not go his way, he starts his routine again. The husband always gets victimized with his son’s display of frustrations. He thinks something terrible happened the way his son goes berserk. He looks at me with annoyance and then walks away relieved knowing that nothing was wrong. I don’t know why I get the look though. Clearly, I did not do anything, lol. We are trying to teach him control his emotions which is not easy but we are hoping he will grasp it the more we explain it to him.

talking

The little man still does not talk to us in words. He communicates with us through actions. Like yesterday when he wanted to take his nap, he walked up to me, held my hand and walked me back to the bedroom. He says milk when he wants a cup, or say dinner (for lunch) when he is hungry, or no when I asked him if he wants something and he does not like it but other than that, he keeps the talking mostly to himself right now. He does what I call monologues, lol. He talks to his toys with matching hand gestures and pitch. He talks to the television but not to us. When we tell him to talk to us he just smiles. I guess he is not ready yet. We are anxiously waiting for him to start conversing with us and we hope it will be soon.

collection

The husband has all kinds of tools for his trade. He is a mechanic and he makes sure that he has everything from the tiniest tool to a work holding which helps him when he is working. They have the big equipments they need where he works but he has also has his own box of tools for small things that needs fixing. He even has other sets of this tools at home though I don’t know if he will be able to use it yet since he has been sick for days. He owned several toolbox which is now down to two since he gave one to the son-in-law while he sold the other to a former co-worker. I bet he realized nobody needs that many boxes anyway. Plus it took up too much space. He was never refunded for all his expenses and he spent a lot of money on tools yet he never complains. I think it is a passion for him. After all he has been in this trade for years.

little bug

Having an active toddler in the house is a cause to save electricity. How? Simple! Turn off all indoor lighting especially when he starts getting on things he is not supposed to. Tell me it will not save us on our next electric bill, lol. I found out that the little bug man stays out of the kitchen and leaves the oven alone if it is dark in there. And he sits with us in the couch if all lights are turned off. Of course this does not work during the day but at least we have a few hours to make him sit still if we can’t make him mind. And I am telling you, it so hard to make him listen to us. He thinks everything is a game. Even when the husband does the talking, it still does not work. Honestly, I am hoping to find a better way to make him mind us and start behaving. I hate to yell. And I don’t want to spank him. Any ideas?

Aside from undressing, the little man is into trying either our sunglasses or eyeglasses too. He does this anytime he gets hold of a pair. Isn’t he cute? He keeps doing this until he gets tired of the glasses falling off his face and then he takes it apart, literally. I threw two of his sunglasses because he tore it up, and I threw a pair of my sunglasses and the husband’s reading glasses. I have learned my lesson and I put everything up anymore instead of spending more and more money buying new pairs. He also likes to imitate Daddy and puts his baseball cap on and acts like a big shot, lol. I am glad I put my sandals and shoes up so he could not try them on. He plays with his father’s sneakers instead :D

on vacations and plans

I have been thinking of taking a vacation for a while now. A vacation free from responsibilities and worries and any other things. I even thought about leaving the little man with his father and then I will run off to some place for a few days and relax. Of course this is all just in my mind. I doubt if I will enjoy if my boys are not with me when I indeed go for a vacation. We are all attached to the hip, lol. Besides, the husband is sick right now and there is no way he could take care of a rambunctious little boy. I can barely keep up with the little man when he starts running around and tearing the place up. I sometimes envy friends who went on cruises and left their kids to their parents for weekends at a time. It is a shame we are far from relatives. It won’t hurt to try and do this and see what happens. For now, I will continue dreaming. The husband promised that when we have enough saved up, we will visit my parents perhaps next year. I just hope he will feel better soon and we will worry about vacations and plans later. It can wait.

climbing up

The little man climbs up on our entertainment center to sit beside the television. He gets on it every day and will get down if we tell him to but he will be up on it again after just a few minutes. I don’t know if he is just after the heat or he wants to feel like he is part of a show. He also reaches up to mess with the DVD’s and whatnots we place on top of the entertainment center. To top it all off, he managed to take one door panel (the wood part) off which is now lying in the bottom of the entertainment center. What I do when he starts climbing up, I turn the television off which is effective since he stays away from it. We need a new tv stand quick! Something that does not have the usual glass covered compartments and preferably tall maybe so he will not be able to climb up on it. I don’t want to spank him over his curiosity and wanting to know what the entertainment center can offer him so I thought a new tv stand without the frills will be good. And if it is made of pure wood, the better. I am hoping this climbing up on everything will stop soon or else I am going to have a heart attack.
