exhibitionist?

My twenty seven month old son likes to undress himself. He then runs around the house naked. I have been both shocked and amused at this development but after he had been doing this several times I am getting worried. He takes his shirt off, then pants comes next, and then the diaper. He looks so happy after accomplishing all these and runs fast when he sees me holding a new shirt and fresh diaper. He does not seem too happy wearing clothes even in the middle of winter. Imagine I am wrapped from head to toe while my son is running around naked and happy about it too. The good thing (if you can call it that) is that he never does this when people are around. Only when it is just me and him in the house. I reprimanded him for doing this but he does not care nor listen to me. Just this morning he took his clothes off twice. The only time he keeps his clothes on is when I let him wear underwear over his diaper. I seem to think he is ready to be potty trained. God knows we have tried sitting in the potty several times but he will not poop in it. He waits until he is wearing his diaper. We could spend half an hour sitting in the potty without hearing any complains but he will not use it at all. I am at a loss here. Please tell me this is normal? I mean, the undressing part.

i want to work

There was a time in my life, and this was after I finished college, that I wanted to embark on a sales career and if you ask me why it was just a means to support myself financially while waiting for the job of a lifetime. As it turned out, I was not cut out for the work. Or at least that was what the people who interviewed me thought. I was too short. Yes, height is a requirement on some jobs in the Philippines. It doesn’t matter if you have the right academic qualifications so long as you are short then you better look for another job to apply to. I think it was a good thing that I was rejected because then I applied for a job on a food manufacturing company and I got accepted. I was on my home turf and I fit in very well even if I was short. I only worked a few months though because the husband and I decided to continue our relationship into a more serious level. And I have not worked since. I still long to work outside of the home but that will not happen until the little man starts school. Either that or petition my mother so she can watch my son while I work. That is if the husband will agree to it. I am sure we will figure out something in the future though. For now I will enjoy my life as a stay at home mother of a rambunctious two year old :D

so sleepy

The little man napped for six hours straight. He slept beside me in the couch at 2pm and woke up at eight thirty in the evening in his own bed. I wanted to wake him up but the husband said to let him be because with luck he might sleep through the night. I told him otherwise but then decided to just let the little boy sleep so the husband and I will have time together. When he woke up, we were ready to go to bed. This is not going to be good was ringing in my head, lol. I gave him dinner and a cup of milk and hoped he will go back to bed and sleep like a good boy. He did not. He stayed up until 11pm (of course I had to stay up too) making all kinds of noise. We had to stay in the living room so as not to disturb daddy. He got tired of playing and climbing up and down the couch (tv was off) that he settled down beside me and was so quite until he fell asleep. Whew! That took a while but at least he did not whine anymore. So, here I am now about to fall off my chair from being so sleepy. I did not sleep until midnight and the husband woke me up early to fix his lunch even after I told him to buy lunch at some fastfood. He just gave me that silly grin and brought the little man in our bed who was all over me trying to wake me up. What can I do but get up. My boys sure are demanding.

danger:toddler living here

Living with a toddler is sometimes not safe for adults. Why? Well, there are times he thinks it is fun to grind step on his parents’ toes when they are barefoot and he is wearing his Skechers. If the shoes happen to be lying somewhere, he can always drop it (where else?) on Mama’s toes. During the day he can scatter his minute toys for Mama to stub her toes on. That is super funny. What about if he gets excited and runs straight for Mama’s stomach? It does act as buffer since her belly is fat soft. Or better yet, when he makes sure to fart on Mama’s face because he knows she hates the action and sees her yelling at Daddy when he does it in her presence. Do you notice a pattern here? It is always Mama who gets the brunt of this dangerous interactions, lol. Daddy is lucky he is at work most times though he does get his share of the fun when he is at home. When Mama hears Daddy scream that means he has been dropped a bomb, er, stepped on. Good thing we stopped him from biting or hitting when he was younger and he does not do it to anybody or else we might have to need some safety equipment around here. I dread what he might do with the baseball bat though so I hid it somewhere for safety. It is better to be safe than sorry, you know :D   We love him though and we know he just wants to know how his parents will react to certain things so he experiments.

i am hooked

I am hooked to reading. There is no stopping me now from spending my free time reading. I have a lot of paperbacks here at home and I am also awaiting for the books I ordered online a week ago. This is my most expensive vice and I sometimes feel guilty for indulging my whim but I can’t help myself. I feel bored when I don’t have anything to read and the little man is ignoring me. Of course I can do some chores inside the house but I can only clean so much. Besides I don’t want to be labeled a neat freak. So I get online or I read. The latter is a better option since the little man will not leave me alone when I am sitting in the computer anyway. At least if I am holding a book he only wants to sit in my lap while trying to get the book from me.

the place to live?

It has been a while now that the husband stopped talking about the glory of Myrtle Beach. He used to brag about the place and we spent lots of times visiting the place on weekends. We visited MB even when we were living in Indiana which was a good twelve hours away. For him, there was no other place for us to live when we retire but MB but he has changed tunes after the trip to Florida. Now he is searching for houses in Florida hoping we will come up (I don’t know how, lol.) enough money to buy one since he found out that some houses there are being in the market cheap. He even asked me if I am ready to move to Florida. Whoa! We only visited the place once last year (he has been there several times though) and now he already forgot his beloved Myrtle Beach? This is serious. I think. I have not made up my mind yet. I seem to like MB but I also like Florida even if I was there only once. But then, I will go wherever he wants us to go so I don’t really have to make up my mind, do I? I am sure though that if we somehow decide to live in Florida, we will still visit MB and if we decide to live in MB we will visit Florida particularly Orlando because of the themeparks. Wherever we will wind up living I am glad there is a Westgate on either cities because that means we can have a place to stay when we decide to visit. That is if we have the money to spend visiting. It is hard anymore with the recession and all. But I know we will try :D

jack in the box?

dsc06453

The picture above is an example of what could happen when a toddler gets bored, lol. He was watching Disney cartoons while I was busy in the computer when he got quite. And when this little boy is quite that means he is doing something he is not supposed to. Well, he found this empty box that his father hid behind the couch and he decided to play with it. I laughed so hard when I saw him like this. I had to get the camera and take a picture, you know, something to show to him when he is older and gets embarrassed by things he did :D

I showed this picture to the husband last night and he laughed at his son’s antic. He sure is resourceful. He finds things inside the house and use them as toys or for whatever purpose it will serve him. Sometimes, I find his father’s old pair of sneakers and flip flops all lined up in the couch. There is always something new with this little man everyday and I actually like it even if I admit the things he does are annoying sometimes. That is what it is like when you have an imaginative toddler in the house, y’all.

presents

Last Christmas we received a number of gifts. Not as many as the little man but we had quite a number. The husband’s female employer sent me a basket from Bath and Body Works and I have been using it for days now. I like it. The husband got a box of assorted beer from his employers, an envelope with a little cash in it, and a grocery store gift card which we already used :D   We actually got three gift cards counting the two that his daughter gave us. There is only one we have not used because it is for Chuck E Cheese and we can’t find the time to go there yet. We have been busy since the holidays. The husband gave me a nice pair of gemstone earrings to match the necklace he bought me years ago. We are quite happy with what we got although I know I should have bought him something. Perhaps next time.
