building blocks

After I taught the little man how to build blocks he has been doing it like a pro. Well, how hard is it to stack blocks on top of each other right? He loves to do it and he stacks them too according to letters and numbers. It is a common sight for our coffee table to have blocks piled up with either consecutive numbers or letters. The problem comes when the blocks topple over because he hates it. You see, he talks when he finishes piling the blocks like he is giving a lecture so when it topples before he is done with his little speech he gets so mad. Blocks go flying in every direction and when I try to pick them up one by one and hands it to him, he throws them away again. This toddler has some anger management issues, lol. I do this to goad him too. I am a bad mother huh? He is so funny when he is angry. His face gets red, he screams, and acts like he doesn’t want to have anything to do with the thing or person which made him angry. He is showing his own personality and I want to discover more of it so I will be prepared when he gets older. Sometimes though, I just want to play with him. The husband thinks I am odd :D

preparing for the holidays

It is that time of the year again. You know, the holidays. My favorite time of the year, lol. I love Christmas most of all though and of course my birthday. Don’t you know, my birthday is a holiday too. For me, that is. Which reminds me, we have to buy Christmas cards for the relatives here and the Philippines. It is my duty to make a list of relatives to send the cards to and then writing greetings and the addresses on the envelopes. Pretty tedious isn’t it? But it is all for the spirit of Christmas and holiday cheer. We usually buy generic cards from the store. The ones that are in bulk because if we will buy it one by one we will be broke before the new year comes, lol. There is nothing stopping me though to get personalized Christmas Photo Cards so this year’s cards will be different than the last. And perhaps cheaper, not to mention, more personal. Especially if I will use a picture of the little man with santa. Now, if only I can nag the husband to bring me to the mall so we can ask the little man to pose with Santa Claus. It may take a miracle to make my boys listen to reason but I am confident they can be swayed. Ever heard of bribes? And when the picture is done then I can go to the Christmas Cards Direct website where I can upload the picture and send it to them for printing. About fifty cards will do. Yes, we are a big family. And that is just first degree relatives yet. If the above plan will not work, all I have to do is choose which one of the hundred beautiful designs I will like. I didn’t know this could get any easier than this.

abc song

A friend gave me a link to an ABC song she found on youtube. I played it for the little man and he absolutely loves it. I can play it several times and he will watch it over and over again. This is the first video he never gets tired of watching and I am amazed. Perhaps it is the catchy tune. Now, he knows the alphabet even before he turned two which might be one of the reasons he likes the song. One thing is the actions. He likes to follow what the kids (and the adults) do in the video. He memorized the song (even if he couldn’t sing it yet) and wants me to sing for him. He says the letters and I sing the song. Of course mama forgets the lyrics but that does not deter him because he moves on to the next letter. It is fun watching him trying to imitate what he remembers from the video. He even tries to hum sing and do his own rendition of the abc song :)

wab you!

I always tell my son how much I love him. I say the words all the time, regardless of where we are. If you are a mother, you probably do too. True, there are times he gets the better of me but he is a kid after all. I just have to make allowances for him and correct him if he ever do wrong. It took him quite a long time (he is already 25 months) to say I love you to us. When we say I love you to him he answers with a loud wab you! The first time I heard him say the words my heart just melted. Even the husband was so proud. What can I say, he is such a sweet kid. That is if he gets what he wants :D

nuts about nuts

A few months ago, the husband ordered a can of assorted nuts from a boy scout who came to our place with the sole purpose of selling nuts so they will gather money for a project. I am not into nuts much but the husband is and knowing he will be able to help even a little he did order. It took over a month before our order arrived though. It seemed like the store they ordered the nuts ran out of supply so they had to wait. A pretty long one at that. I even almost forgot about it until I talked to a friend from another state and she said that kids went to their house and offered her christmas nuts in as early as October for their school project. The nuts did get delivered to our place and the husband devoured it claiming it was good. He even offered the little man some to which I disagree since I am not sure if it was safe for him to eat any yet. Besides he might just swallow it instead of chewing as what he always do. I am an overprotective mother, can’t you tell? Perhaps when the little man is four maybe I will let him try some. For now he has to stick with easy to chew food.

rambling

There is nothing new to report about the little man. Like most toddlers he is rowdy at times and like an angel the next. Unpredictable, fun, annoying, and entertaining. He does whatever he fancies. I stopped putting him in his playpen when he gets rowdy because he already knows how to get out of it safely. What’s the use, right? Besides when he thinks he has enough running around and making Mama’s head spin, he climbs to get inside the playpen by himself to play with his letters. Cool huh? Lol.

His fascination with the laptop now borders into obsession. Scary! When he hears me telling him to stay away from the computer he gets annoyed and to make Mama pay for keeping him away from it, he takes some of the keys with him. Believe me, it took me days to figure out how to put the keys back in to where it worked good. I screamed my frustration and when he saw me did it he walked as far away as possible and acted innocent. Smart, eh? I must admit he gives me headaches sometimes but all of it goes away when he hugs me and asks for kisses by pressing his forehead to my lips. He will not go away unless he is satisfied either. The husband said I am spoiling his son and I know I am. Is it a sin?

sick with the cold

And as much as he tries not to whine, he couldn’t help it. I saw him walking while trying to lift his head high up, his way of stopping his runny nose. When he bumps into something though he gets annoyed. I know how it feels, I have it too. From him. We are sick and we don’t like it but there is nothing we can do about it but get better. We hope to get better soon. The bad thing is I can’t give him anything for his cold. It just have to run its course. I read it is not safe to give toddlers cold medicine.
